Involvement in Coastal Cleanup DaySave the Sea Club annually captains Del Monte Beach for a larger event- International Coastal Cleanup Day. Each September, people around the globe participate in this monumental cleaning of various waterways to make it the largest volunteer event on earth. Save the Sea Club contributes by joining this event each September and captaining the prominent Del Monte Beach site. This year, we captained Asilomar State Beach and had 91 volunteers who collected 56 pounds of trash and recycling. Worldwide, there was a total of 648,015 volunteers and 12.3 million pounds of trash collected. California contributed 3,884 volunteers and 21,979.6 pounds of trash to the worldwide total.
